Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen is a Hollywood singer who is especially known for his work with the E Street Band. Along with it, he is also a songwriter and musician. How was the Early life of Bruce Springsteen?

He was born on 23 September 1949 in Long Branch, New Jersey, the United States at Monmouth Medical Center to father Douglas Frederick Springsteen and mother Adele Ann. His father was a bus driver but often unemployed, while his mother worked as a legal secretary and was the main breadwinner. His father was of Dutch and Irish ancestry and his mother was of Italian ancestry. 

He has two siblings, Virginia and Pamela, where his sister Pamela had a brief film career. But she left it to pursue photography. He attended the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Freehold Borough but was rejected from there. Then he attended the public Freedom High School in the ninth grade but did not fit in there either. From there he graduated in 1967 after which he attended Ocean Country College but dropped out.

The start of his Career?

When he was seven years old, he got inspired to take up music after watching Elvis Presley on The Ed Sullivan Show (1948). So he bought his first guitar for $18 when he was 13 years old. Again at 16, he got a new guitar which worth $60 from his mother who took a loan to buy it. From there he started his singing

career and became the lead guitarist by 1965 in the band ‘The Castles’. Later he became the lead singer in the same band. After that, from 1969 to 1971 he performed with Steven Van Zandt, Danny Federici, and Vini Lopez in the band called ‘Child’. When guitarist Robbin Thomson joined the band, it was renamed ‘Steel Mill’. After that with Colombia Records in 1972, he signed a deal and released his album called ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.’, with his New Jersey-based colleagues. 

After a year in January 1973, the album was renamed ‘The E Street Band’. This got much commercial success along with his second album. But his other albums like The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Stuff were released in the same year, 1973 which had little commercial success. After 14 months of recording, his 3rd album was released in 1975 called ‘Born to Run’ which had both commercial and critical success. 

Then he had two years of legal battle with former manager Mike Appel. After that in 1977, he returned to the studio and produced the album ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’ which was released in 1978. His album ‘The River’, was released in 1980 and had critical success but less commercial success. ‘Born in the USA’, released in 1984 became the best-selling album as its 15 million copies sold.

His success after starting his career

After a huge success, he released ‘Tunnel of Love’ in 1987 to show his love lost as he had a breakup with his first wife, Julianne Phillips. In 1992, he released ‘Lucky Town’, and ‘Human Touch’ which also got popularity. Later, he won an Academy Award in 1993 for his song ‘Streets of Philadelphia’. 

He released his first solo guitar album called ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ in 1995 after which he took a break for more than 5 years. After the breakup, he released his first studio album, The Rising, in 2002, which achieved critical and commercial success. Then he released his third folk album ‘Devils and Dust’ in 2005. 

From 2006 to 2008 he released ‘We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions (2006)’, and ‘Magic (2007)’. After that in 2008, he sang the song ‘Working on a Dream’ with his second wife, Scialfa in support of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. 

On January 1, 2009, he performed at the halftime show at ‘Super Bowl XLIII’. Later from 2012 to 2016, he released several music albums including ‘Wrecking Ball’, ‘High Hopes’, ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’, ‘American Land’, and so on. In 2017, he debuted with an eight-week solo concert series at the intimate Walter Kerr Theatre. He also performed at the Invictus Games Toronto 2017 closing ceremony which was presented by Jaguar Land Rover Canada 150.
